Found in New Guinea at elevations around 800 meters as a large sized, warm growing epiphyte with a short rhizome giving rise to simple, strict to substrict, slightly compressed stems carrying many, erect-patent, glabrous, coriaceous, oblong-lanceolate, obtuse and unequally bilobed apically leaves that blooms in the late winter and early spring on a short, 2 flowered inflorescence.

Schlechter states that the flowers are golden yellow, the lip with an orange yellow central crest and the column with an orange-yeelow spot apically.
