Common Name Griffith's Dendrobium [English Collector in Burma 1800's]

Flower Size 1 1/2 to 2" [3.75 to 5 cm]

Similar to D. densiflorum Lindley. Found in Assam India, Thailand and Burma high up in trees around 490 to 500 meters in elevation as a medium sized, hot to warm growing, epiphyte with calvate-fusiform, thicker towards the apex, deeply sulcate, to 5 noded, shiney, yellow stems carrying 2 to 3, apical, leathery, ovate or oblong, very shortly petiolate, acute leaves that blooms on a 6 to 10" [15 to 25 cm] long, suberect to pendant, loosely few to many flowered inflorescence arising on the nodes at or near the apex of the cane with long-lasting flowers occuring in the spring. Give a 2 to 3 month dry winter rest from waterings and fertilizer until new growth appears in the spring. Biweekly mistings help keep the plants from drying out too much as long as the humidity is kept high.

Synonyms Callista griffithiana (Lindl.) Kuntze 1891
