Common Name The Star Lichen-Like Dendrobium - The Common Button Orchid
Flower Size 1/6" to 3/4" [.3 to .8 cm]
A hot to cool growing, miniature epiphytic species from Queensland Australian in open forests and dense rainforests at elevations of 0 to 1950 meters with branching rhizomes covered in sheathing bracts carrying alternate, prostrate, thick, fleshy, ovate-oblong, obovate or circular leaves. The main bloom season is in the fall but it can flower at any time of the year on a very short to 3/4" [1.5 cm], raceme beneath a leaf with a single musky scented flower and a brighter winter rest is required with some water but no fertilizer. This species is similar to or conspecific with D prenticei, see that specesi for maore informatiion and synonyms.
