Common Name Flat Pseudobulbed Dendrobium
Flower Size to 1" [2.5 cm]
A Philippine, New Guinea and surrounding islands as a miniature sized, hot growing, epiphytic species said to be a synonym of Dendrobium platygastrium found at elevations of 0 to 500 meters in dense humid forests near watercourses with very compressed, flattened pseudobulbs carrying a few, distichous elliptic-lanceolate leaves that blooms in the spring and again in the fall on a 1 1/2" [3.75 cm] long, erect, few [5] flowered, racemose inflorescence that arises from the nodes near the apex of leafed and leafless canes.
This species and D platigastrium are cited as synonyms but I have kept them separate at this time, please refer to the other species for more information.
