Common Name The Purple Lipped Dendrobium - In China Dan Ting Cao Shi Hu
Flower Size .4 to .6" [1 to 1.5 cm]
Found in the western Himalayas, Chinese Himalayas, Assam, eastern Himalayas, Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam on trees in forests grazed by cattle at elevations of 1850 to 2350 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte with attenuate, cylindric-conical, slender, yellowish pseudobulbs enveloped by imbricating, membraneous, striate sheaths and carrying 3 to 4, suberect to somewhat spreading, slightly arcuate, fleshy, thinly leathery, linear-oblong to obliquely emarginate, sessile, jointed, acute to obtuse leaves that blooms in the spring on a terminal, slender, solitary, pendant, slightly fractiflex, glabrous, simultaneously 6 to 10 flowered inflorescence with glabrous basal sheaths.
