Common Name The Laying Down Dendrobium
Flower Size 3/4" [1.8 cm]
Found in Malaysia, Borneo and Sumatra in lowland and hill forests at elevations around 500 to 600 meters as a small to medium szied, hot growing epiphyte with a creeping, branching stem enveloped completely by imbricating leaf sheaths and carrying triangular, fleshy leaves that blooms in the winter on an apparently terminal, short, single flowered inflorescence and carries musty scented flowers
CAUTION This one comes from Papua New Guinea and differs greatly in the callus on the lip as well as the lip apex which is not bilobed and fimbriate differing from Comber's photo in Orchids of Sumatra which has a large hairy patch and Seidenfaden's drawing in orchids of Pennisular Malyasia but agrees in all other aspects. May be D xanthoacron but do not have references to confirm so use with caution.
