Found in Penninsular Malaysia, Sabah, Borneo and Sumatra in hill and lower montane forests at elevations of 800 to 1100 meters as a medium to just large sized, hot growing epiphyte with branched stems carrying many, close set, distichous, imbricate, equitant, conduplicate, compressed, green to tinged red with sun, ovate, acute apically leaves attenuate below into the leaf bearing sheaths that blooms in the spring fall and winter on the apical, leafless portion of the stem with a short, single flowered infloresence that hold the flowers against the leafless stem
