Common Name or Meaning The Scale Carrying Dendrobium

Found in New Guinea overhanging rivers or on ridge tops at elevations of 150 to 500 meters as a medium to large sized, hot growing epiphyte with slender, erect then pendulius with age, leafy throughout or just topwards the apex stems carrying deciduous, lanceolate, wavy margined leaves that blooms in the mid spring and earlier summer on several, short, axillary, 2 to 8 flowered inflorescence arising on leafy or occasionally on leafless stems carrying short lived flowers

Often cited as a synonym of D melanostichum but differs in the non winged column
