Common Name Stuart's Dendrobium [English Orchid Gardener, Stuart Low 1800's] - In Australia The Fringed Tree Orchid

Flower Size .6" [1.5 cm]

Found in Thailand, penninsular Malaysia, Vietnam, Java, Sumatra, Bali, Borneo to Queensland Australia in riverine forests at elevations of 100 to 300 meters as a medium sized, hot growing epiphyte with somewhat fleshy, cane-like stems carrying in youth, deciduous, smaller, acute, thin, 2 ranked leaves that blooms in the spring and summer on a very short, 2 to 3 flowered inflorescence arising from the nodes in the upper 2/3 of the canes with flower that turn yellow with age.

CAUTION Kew now puts this species as a synonym of D macrostachyum I have left them separate pending further research.
