Common Name The Forest Dwelling Dendrobium
Found in Papua New Guinea, New Ireland, Bouganville and the Solomons at elevations under 80 meters as a large to giant sized, hot growing epiphyte with a basal thickened stem that is leafy in the upper half and carrying many, dark, glossy, green, elongate-ovate, smooth, tough, somewhat erect, apically bidentate leaves that blooms in the fall and winter on a 10 to 210" [20 to 40 cm] long, 15 to 40 flowered, that blooms in the late winter and early spring on a 10 to 20 [20 to 40 cm] long, densely 15 to 40 flowered inflorescence arising from near the apex of the cane and carrying flowers that do not open well.
