Common Name The Torres Strait Dendrobium [A channel between New Guinea and Australia] - The Sparkle Orchid - The Mica Orchid

Found in northern Queensland Australia on trees and shady rocks as a miniature sized, hot to cool growing epiphyte or lithophyte at elevations of 50 to 1220 meters in exposed locations with a rhizome that produces leaves all along and has a small vestigal pseudobulb carrying many, alternate, channeled on top, rounded basally, sparkly leaves that blooms on a very short, single flowered inflorescence arising at the apex of the vestigal pseudobulb with longlasting flowers occurring in the spring. Water and fertilizer should be reduced through the winter months but don't allow a complete dryout, resume regular water and fertilizer in the spring as new growth arises.
