Common Name Single Flowered Dendrobium

Flower Size 1/2 to 1.2" [1.25 to 3.1 cm]

Found in Thailand, Vietnam, penninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo, Sulawesi and the Phillipines, at elevations around 300 to 1600 meters in evergreen lowland forests and primary montane forests as a medium sized, hot to cool growing epiphyte with erect, grooved, swollen stems that are often marked with red stripes carrying many, elliptic to oblong-lanceolate, distichous, twisted basally, deciduous leaves that are apically bilobed and all lie in a single plane , occuring at elevations of 100 to 700 meters often in full sun, where it blooms with a single flower that arises rom the nodes of leafless canes with heavy textured, longlasting flowers occuring in the spring. A steady water and fertilizer regimen suits this orchid well.
