Common Name The Pendant Growing Dichaea

Flower Size 3/4" [2 cm]

Found from Cuba, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Leewards, Puerto Rico, the Virgins, Windwards, Costa Rica, Panama, French Guiana, Guyana, Venezuela, Colombia, Peru, Bolivia and Brazil in the understory of dense wet forests as a pendulous growing, medium sized, cool to cold growing, pseudomonopodial epiphyte found in disturbed areas of dense forests at elevations of 1200 to 2500 meters with a pendent, arching to suberect, branching, compressed stems enveloped completely by leaf bearing sheaths and carrying soft, papery, olive green, oblong-ligulate to elliptic-lanceolate, apiculate and minutely serrulate apically leaves that blooms in the spring and summer on an axillary, filiform, .44 to .64" [1.1 to 1.6 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence with 1 to 2 broadly ovate bracts and carrying muricate capsules and ovaries.
