Common Name Kegel's Dichaea [German Orchid Gardener and head of Halle Botanical garden 1800's]
This small sized, pendant growing, epiphytic species is found in French Guiana, Surinam, Guyana, Venezuela, Brazil, Ecuador and Peru in rain forests at elevations of 100 to 1300 meters as a small to just medium sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte with a pendant stem carrying distichous, imbricate, delicate, articulate to the leaf shesths below, elliptic to ovate-elliptic, finely pilose for the margins of the leaves that blooms in the late summer and fall with an axillary, short, single flowered inflorescence that holds the flowers within the leaves.
