Common Name The Scoop-Shaped Dendrochilum

Flower Size 2/5" [1 cm]

Found from Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, French Guiana, Surianam, Guyana, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Brazil at elevations around 50 to 1800 meters in wet montane forests, as a medium sized, pendulous, caespitose, hot to cool growing epiphyte with a monopodial stem enveloped completely by imbricate leafless below and leaf-bearing sheaths above that carries alternating, distichous, narrowly lanceolate, acuminate leaves that are conduplicate at the base into a short petiole and blooms on an axillary, short, single flowered inflorescence holding the flowers close to the stem and leaf occurring in the spring in cultivation.
