Found in Thailand, Malaysia, Java, Borneo, Moluccas, Sumatra and New Guinea in hill and montane forests often on rocky banks in full sun at elevations of 170 to to 2000 meters as a giant sized, hot to cool growing epiphyte or terrestrial with an elongate stem carrying 2-ranked, lanceolate, acute, upper smaller than lower leaves that blooms in the spring on a terminal raely branched, 6" [15 cm] long, to 10 flowered, inflorescence with long-oval, avute, very concave flroal bracts.1" [2.5] cm between each flower
The first photo is absolutely correct and matches all the references cited below, the second I am not convinced and it is not close to any references below. D wallichii has 3 thinner, somewhat serpentine ridges on the lip, while D cantleyi has 3 major and 2 minor ridges on the lip.
