Found in Burundi, Rwanda, Uganda, Tanzania and Zambia in wet swamp forests at elevations of 1100 to 2100 meters as a slender, erect, medium sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial with imbricate, semi-erect, conduplicate, linear, acute, becoming narrowly ovate to lanceolate then grading into the floral bracts that blooms in the late spring on an erect, terminal, 3.2 to 6" [8 to 15 cm] long, laxly 15 to 30 flowered inflorescence with floral bracts that are shorter than the ovaries.
