Found in the Comoros, Mauritius, Reunion and Madagascar in humid forests on rocks by streams, at base of trees in moss and in riparian forests at elevations of sealevel to 1500 meters as a miniature to small sized, warm growing terrestrial with an elongate tuber giving rise to a stem carrying 2, opposite, lanceolate to oval-lanceolate, subcordate leaves held above the center that blooms in the spring on an erect, 4 to 10" [10 to 25 cm] long, several flowered inflorescence,
