Common Name Roezl's Dracula [Bohemian Orchid Collector in South America 1800's]

Found in Antioquia Colombia in cloud forests at elevations around 1800 to 2350 meters as a small to just medium sized, cool growing epiphyte with stout, erect ramicauls enveloped basally by 2 to 3 loose, tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, thinly coriaceous, carinate, elliptical, subplicate, acute, cuneate below into the conduplicate, indistinct, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the spring and fall on a stout, horizontal to descending, to 22" [to 55 cm] long, loose, successively several flowered, racemose inflorescence arising from low on the ramicaul and carrying a tubular floral bract. .
