Found in Costa Rica in premontane rainforests at elevations of 450 to 1600 meters as a small sized warm to cool growing terrestrial with an erect, sometimes branching stem enveloped completely by imbricate leaf bearing sheaths and each carrying, ovate-oblong, obtuse,unequally bilobed apically leaves that blooms in the later spring and summer on a terminal or axillary, .4 to .6" [1 to 1.5 cm] long, few flowered racemose inflorescence with triangular, acuminate floral bracts.
