Found in Peru in sclerophyllus thickets at elevations around 2900 meters as a large sized, caespitose orchid with a simple, leafy above stem carrying lanceolate, acute to acuminate leaves that blooms on a capitate, Congested, ovoid, 2" [5 cm] long, very densely many flowered inflorescence with 2 basal, large, concave sheaths and erect spreading, lanceolate, very acute, slightly exceeding the flowers floral bracts and carrying bright purple flowers
