Found in Java in primary montane forests at elevations around 1500 to 1600 meters as a miniature sized, cool growing epiphyte with a long creeping rhizome enveloped by to 12, imbricate, brown cataphyls and giving rise to oblongoid, 4 sharp angled, 1.42 to 3.56" [3.2 to 8.9 cm] between each, shiny olive green pseudobulbs carrying 2, apical, elliptic to long-elliptic, obtuse, shallowly obliquely bilobed, coriaeceous, Petiolate base leaves that blooms in the late winter and early spring on a terminal, peduncle 3.64 to 4.28" [9.1 to 10.7 cm] long, provided with 2 sterile bracts, rachis .56 to 2" [1.3 to 5 cm] long, 2 to 8 flowered inflorescence

Differs from E triflorum by having an erect, inflorescence with 6 to 10 flowers with lateral sepals that are distinctly broader than the dorsal, has three short, parellel ribs at the apex of the lip with the center rib being the longest.

Found in Java at elevations of 1300 to 1600 meters and differs from the type in having lateral sepals more or less the same size as the dorsal and the lip has 2 short ribs at the apex as well as much longer leaves [20 to 30 cm] and has a pendulous, 6 to 17 flowered inflorescence.
