Common Name The Waxen Flower Epigeneium - In China Tai Wan Hou Chun Lan

Flower Size 1" [2.5 cm]

This miniature, epiphytic orchid is endemic to Taiwan in the central mountain range in broad leaved forests at elevations of 300 to 2400 meters with many-angled, closely spaced pseudobulbs carrying a single, terminal leaf and blooms on a terminal, short, single flowered inflorescence with short-lived, waxy flowers that is subtended by a brown basal sheath and occurs in the fall or winter. This species is often cited as synomonous with E sanseiense but there are many obvious visual differences so I will leave them separate at this time.

Synonyms *Dendrobium nakaharaei Schlechter 1906
