Common Name The Waxen Flower Epigeneium - In China Tai Wan Hou Chun Lan

Flower Size 1" [2.5 cm]

Found in Taiwan and Vietnam in the central mountain range in broad leaved forests at elevations of 300 to 2400 meters as a miniature sized, hot to cold growing epiphytic orchid with many-angled, creeping, obliquely ovate pseudobulbs carrying a single, terminal, coriaceous, oblong to ovate, dark green, lustrous leaf that blooms in the fall and winter on a terminal, short, .4 to 1" [1 to 2.5 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence with short-lived, slightly fragrant, waxy flowers that is subtended by a brown basal sheath.

This species is often cited as synomonous with E sanseiense but there are many obvious visual differences in the photos that I have so I will leave them separate at this time until I can verify if the E sanseiense photos are correct.

Synonyms *Dendrobium nakaharaei Schlechter 1906
