Found in Venezuela and Colombia at elevations of 190 to 1550 meters as a medium to giant sized, hot to warm growing terrestrial on rocks, on riverbanks or grassy savannahs or epiphytic in wet, humid forests with an elongate, stout, glabrous stem carrying lightly fleshy, ovoid, acute leaves with clasping leaf bases and blooms in the summer on a terminal, terete, glabrous, several to many [18] successively flowered, racemose inflorescence arising on a mature cane.
