Found in Ecuador, Bolivia and Peru in upper montane cloud forests at elevations of 2700 to 3100 meters as a small sized, cold growing epiphyte with terete, branching from the middle to upper nodes of the stem carrying numerous on the main stem, lanceolate, aristate, margin entire leaves that on the main stem are larger than the leaves on the side stems that blooms in the late spring through late winter on a terminal, subcapitate, occuring only once, 8 to 12 flowered inflorescence with lanceolate, much shorter than the ovary floral bracts and carrying successively opening, several open at a time, resupinate flowers
