Found in the eastern Himalayas, Assam, India, China, Myanamar, Thailand and Vietnam in forests on tree trunks at elevations around 900 to 1200 meters as a medium sized, warm growing epiphyte with an elongate stem enveloped by tubular sheaths and carrying 7 to10, narrowly elliptic-oblong, acuminate, many veined, tapering to a sheathiing base leaves that blooms in the fall on an apical, racemose to sub-paniculate, lax, reddish-pubescent, to 9.2" [to 23 cm] long, with broad sub-orbicular, apiculate floral bracts
