Found in Thailand, Vietnam, penninsular Malaysia, Java and Sumatra in hill forests at elevations of 800 to 1900 meters as a small to medium sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte with an elongate, stout, rather soft cylindrical stem carrying 4 to 7, elliptical, towards the apex, narrowly lanceolate, narrowing towards the base leaves that blooms in the later spring and early fall on 3 to 5, obliquely ascending, to 4.8" [12 cm] long, basally brown pilose inflorescence with many, crowded flowers
