Found in New Caledonia in open scrublands as a giant sized, hot growing terrestrial with hollow, stiff, leafy, sterile stems that occasionally can have an inflorescence on an offshoot near the apex, but normally blooms in the spring on an erect, terminal, successively 1 to 2, several flowered inflorescence with very short lived flowers
