Found in the Mantiqueira Rain Forest Mountains of Minas Gerais and Sao Paulo State Brazil as well as Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador and Peru in seasonally dry cloud forests at elevations of 500 to 3150 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cold to warm growing terrestrial with a basal rosette of elliptic, acute leaves that are conduplicate below into a distinct petiole that blooms in the summer on a short to 1" [2.5 cm], pendant inflorescence with a head-like cluster of several [6 to 8] flowers with inflated, pilose floral bracts
