Common Name Burke's Galeottia [English Orchid Collector for Veitch nursuries 1800's]

Flower Size 1.8 to 2" [4.5 to 5 cm]

Found in Venezuela, Guyana, Surinam?, N Brazil and Peru in humid grasslands at elevations around 1800 meters as a medium sized, cool growing terrestrial with a short rhizome carrying clustered, oblong, laterally compressed, obtuse tetragon pseudobulbs enveloped basally by several imbricating leaf-bearing sheaths and carrying 2 to 3 apical, coriaceous, linear-lanceolte, acuminate, 5 nerved, conduplicate below into the base leaves that blooms on an axillary, 14 to 16" [35 to 40 cm] long, 4 to 5 flowered inflorescence
