Found in the western Himalayas, the eastern Himalayas, the Chinese Himalayas, Nepal and Myanamar on turf on open hillsides, on damp rocks, and in open damp grazed meadows under rhododendron at elevations of 30050 to 4500 meters as a mini-miniature to miniature sized, cold growing terrestrial with a glabrous stem carrying a single, ovate to ovate-elliptic, subacute, channeled petiolate base leaf that blooms in the late spring and early summer on a glabrous, erect, densely 1 to 5 flowered inflroescence with lanceolate, acute floral bract.
