Found in Venezuela, southern Colombia and western Ecuador in tropical moist rainforests at elevations of 50 to 1300 meters as a medium sized, hot to cool growing epiphyte with swollen, longitudinally ribbed pseudobulbs carrying 2 apical, broad, thin, plicate leaves that gradually narrow to a conduplicate petiole below that blooms in the late spring and early summer on a basal, pendant, 12" [30 cm] long, several flowered inflorescence arising on a mature pseudobulb and carrying fishy, musty and sweaty gym clothes scented flwoers.
This species has the longest horns of the genus.
