Found in Assam India, eastern Himalayas, Nepal, western Himalayas, Bhutan, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Borneo, Java, Sumatra, Moluccas, the Philippines, Sulawesi, Bismark, New Guinea, Solomon Islands,New Caledonia, Samoa, Vanuatu, Yunnan China, Queensland Australia, Japan, Taiwan and Ryukyu Islands on steep rocky slopes and in deep forests at elevations of 400 to 2200 meters as a creeping, small sized, warm to cool growing terrestrial orchid with 5 to 6, ovate, shortly pointed, slightly heart-shaped basally into a slender stem leaf that blooms in the fall on an erect, slender, 2 to 4" [5 to 10 cm] long, shortly pilose, 2 to 6 flowered, racemose inflorescence arising after the orchid has matured has 1 to 2 sterile bracts.
