Found in Myanamar, Thailand and Laos in humid to dry dipterocarp, oak and pine forests or in grassy forest clearings at elevations of 350 to 1300 meters as a miniature to small sized, hot to warm growing terrestrial with a stem carrying 2 to 5, cauline, scattered in the lower half of the stem, lanceolate-oblong, acute, mucronate leaves grading above to 1 to 7, narrowly lanceolate, acute to acuminate, erect to suberect, margins often stiff haired sterile bracts that blooms in the late summer and early fall on a glabrous, 4.8 to 12" [12 to 30 cm] long, lax to semidense, 6 to 30 flowered inflorescence with lanceolate, acute to acuminate floral bracts.
