Found in India, Sri Lanka, Myanmar and the Ryukyu Islands? as a medium sized, hot to warm growing terrestrial with a tall, slender, naked below, leafy above stem carrying suberect to spreading, oblong-ovate to ovate-lanceolate, acuminate above, amplexicaul below leaves grading smaller above into bracts that blooms on a terminal, erect, 2 to 6 [5 to 15 cm] long, laxly many flowered inflorescence with ovate-lanceolate, acuminate, twice longer than the flowers floral bracts and carrying small, erect flowers.
CAUTION !!! According to Hooker 1890, Wight’s drawing above has the flowers larger, the bracts shorter and the side segments of the lip much larger and more slender than in his collected specimens which bear the manuscript name of H persimils.
