Found in Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua and Costa Rica in lower wet montane forests at elevations around 1200 meters as a medium sized, cool growing terrestrial with an erect stem enveloped basally by slasping non-foliaceous sheaths and carrying well spaced, narrowly elliptic, acute smaller below , middlemost largest and grading smaller above into the bracts that blooms in the fall on a terminal, erect, racemose, densely to 25 flowered inflorescence.
