Common Name Sickle-leaf Laelia

Flower Size 2 to 3" [5 to 7.5 cm]

Found in Brazil at elevations of 500 to 900 meters in shady humid habitats as a medium sized warm growing epiphyte with clustered, very thin, terete pseudobulbs carrying a solitary, sickle or sword shaped leaf and blooms in the fall in Brazil and late winter and spring in northern climes on an erect, terminal, 6" [15 cm] long, several flowered, clustered at the top, racemose inflorescence subtended by a small sheath

This species is easily separated by it's epiphytic habit, it's elongate, slender stems and it's short inflorescence that hardly equals the leaf in length as well as blooming in the late winter and spring.

This species grows best in warm temperatures not cool with little to no dormancy and less light and more water than other rupicolous Laelia
