Common Name Pfister's Laelia [German Orchid Nurseryman 1900's]

Flower Size 7/8" [2.2 cm]

Found in Bahia Brazil at elevations around 1300 meters as a miniature, rupicolus orchid that grows in an area with cactus which has a dry spell between December and July and is rare there in nature as well as cultivation and has a pear-shaped pseudobulb carrying a single, apical, narrowly elliptic, somewhat conduplicate, leathery leaf and blooms on a successively single [up to 8] flowered, 12" [30 cm] long inflorescence with several triangular sheaths occuring in the spring.
