Found from Mexico, El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela, Fr Guiana, Guyana and Brazil in moist premontane forests, montane forests and elfin forests as a miniature sized, hot to cool growing epiphyte on moss covered branches at elevations of 300 to 2400 meters with erect, terete stems covered by inflated, ciliate sheaths and has a single, elliptic-lanceolate, subcoriaceous, retuse, apiculate, gradually narrows below into the base leaf and blooms on a 1 7/8" to 2 3/4" [4.8 to 7 cm] long, terminal [from the leaf base], several flowered, racemose inflorescence that arises in the winter and spring with simultaneously opening flowers.
