Found in Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia and Ecuador in premontane rain forest to cloud forest and disturbed primary forests at elevations of 55 to 750 meters as a mini-miniature sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte with erect, slender ramicauls enveloped basally by 2 to 6, ciliate, lepanthiform sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, purple suffused beneath, elliptical, subacute to obtuse, lightly convex, abruptly narrowing below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the winter and summer on a congested, distichous, .1 to .2" [3 to 5 mm] long, successively several flowered, filiform, racemose inflorescence arising beneath the leaf with echinate floral bracts.
