Found in Ecuador and Peru in cloud forests at elevations around 1700 to 3500 meters as a small to medium sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte with an erect, slender to stout ramicaul enveloped by 9 to 14, minutely ciliate, lepanthiform sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, thinly coriaceous, oblong-ovate, acute, acuminate, cuneate to rounded below into the contracted, petiolate base leaf that blooms late winter through summer on a filiform, congested, distichous, 3.2" [8 cm] long, racemose, successively many flowered inflorescence arising from behind the leaf.
