Found in Norte de Santander Colombia in cloud forests at elevations of 2100 as a small to medium sized, cool growing epiphyte with erect, slender ramicauls enveloped by 15 to 20 minutely ciliate, leapanthiform sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, thinly coriaceous, ovate, acute, acuminate, basally rounded and contracted into the twisted petiolate base leaf that blooms in the spring and summer on a beneath the leaf, filiform, to 1 3/4" [to 4.8 cm] long, congested, distichous successively single flowered, racemose inflorescence
