Common Name Endres' Lockhartia [German Orchid Collector in Coata Rica 1800's]

Flower Size .56 to .75" [1.4 to 1.8 cm] tall

Found in Costa Rica on the Caribbean slope of the Guanacaste and Tiliran cordilleras and on the Pacific coast of the Talamanca cordillera at elevations of 600 to 1450 meters as a small to medium sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte with erect, more or less rigid stems carrying 28 to 48, laterally flattened, triangular in side view, acute leaves that blooms in the spring, summer and early fall on many, both axillary and terminal, .4 to 1.2" [1 to 3 cm] long, simultaneously 1 to 3 flowered inflorescence with large, amplexicaul, infundibuliform, subrotund, cordate, obtuse to apically rounded floral bracts and carrying resupinate, widely opening flowers.

Similar to both L amoena and L grandibractea but this one differs in its less deeply lobed labellum midlobe, and in its much larger, subquadrate column wings that are wider distally and with a crenate margin.
