Common Name The Small-Haired Lycaste

Flower Size to about 4" [to about 10 cm]

A medium sized, cold to warm growing epiphytic or lithophytic species found in Colombia, Peru, Bolivia and Ecuador under scrub in shady conditions and rocky soil in river canyons and on decaying tree stumps that is found at elevations of 1000 to 2800 meters with ovoid, ribbed pseudobulbs enveloped basally by distichous sheaths with the uppermost being leaf-bearing and carrying 2 deciduous, plicate, thin, narrowly elliptical, acute, basally clasping leaves and blooms on a laxly erect, basal, several at once, to 4" [10 cm] long inflorescence occuring in the spring with nocturnally fragrant, waxy, long-lived flowers.
