Common Name or Meaning The Beautiful Leaf Malaxis
Flower Size 1/4" [.6 cm]
Found in Assam India, eastern Himalayas, Sikkim, Bangladesh, Myanamar, Northern Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam and Borneo in hill forests at elevations around 1100 meters as a small sized, cool to warm growing terrestrial with stout, short, erect pseudobulbs carrying 3 to 4, shortly petiolate, oblong-lanceolate, acute, bicolor leaves and blooms on a 10" [25 cm] long, many flowered, densely cylyndrical inflorescence with narrow, linear-setaceous bracts and successively opening, inverted [non-resupinate] flowers occuring in the spring and summer. These pictures are in situ in Northern Thailand and was blooming as of June 2001.
