Common Name or Meaning Wendland's Malaxis [German Orchid Collector in Mexico 1800's]

Found in Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Panama and Venezuela at elevations of 1200 to 2200 meters as a small sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte with spherical pseduobulbs enveloped by a net-like whitish sheath and carrying 1 to rarely 2, apical, elliptic, acute gradually narrowing below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the summer on a terminal, erect, 2.4" [6 cm] long, racemose, 5 to 8 flowered inflorescence
