Found in Venezuela and Colombia in paramo at elevations of 2500 to 2800 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool to cold growing terreestrial or epiphyte low down on trees with erect, ramicauls enveloped basally by a loose, inflated, tubular sheath and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptic, contracted petiolate base leaf that blooms in the winter through summer on an erect, 5" [12.5 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence with a very pale green, acuminate bract at the apex
