Common Name The Beautiful-Winged Masdevallia

Flower Size 3/4" [2 cm]

A dwarf, epiphytic, Colombian, Ecuadorian and Peruvian species found in dense, moist forests at elevations of 1800 to 2600 meters with erect, slender ramicauls enveloped basally by 2 to 3 tubular sheaths abd carrying a single, apical, oblanceolate to narrowly spathulate, leaf that is narrowing to a conduplicate base and blooms in the winter in cultivation on a erect, 6" [15 cm] long, terete, several [2 to 9] flowered inflorescence arising from low on the ramicaul with a bract below the middle and anothewr at the base as well as thin, infloated floral bracts that envelop the pedicel and ovary and flowers held well above the leaves.
