Found in Peru at elevations around 2600 to 3000 meters as a small sized, cold growing epiphyte with slender, erect ramicauls enveloped basally by 2 to 3 loose tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptical, subacute, cuneate below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the spring on a slender, erect, 4 1/4" to 6.2" [11 to 16 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence arising from above the base of the ramicaul, with a thin bract on the lower third and a tubular floral bract
