Found in Norte de Santander Colombia and Tachira Venezuela in cloud forests at elevations around 1700 to 3170 meters as a small sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte with stout, erect ramicauls enveloped by 2 to 3, loose, tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, thickly coriaceous, oblong, obtuse, gradually narrowing below into the channeled, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the later spring on a stout, erect to suberect, 3.2" [8 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence arising from low on the ramicaul with a bract near the base and with a loose, tubular floral bract.
